"The Count of Monte Christo"

"The Count of Monte Cristo"

On permanent display at the Consulat de Monte Cristo.

This was a commissioned period piece, with characters envisioned from the book "The Count of Monte Cristo." The building in the background is a semifore telegraph; the French would send signals that way across vast distances in mere moments via tower to tower. The outfits are true to the year 1844. The uniform is as accurate as I could make it for a telegraph operator in France; in the book, the character on your left is getting news of a mishap involving his own fraudulent activity!

Thank you Kent for your inspiration.

There has always been an unspoken kinship between French people and the American people. The French have such a culture fantastique. Hope you enjoy...
