Campbell River, Roderick Haig-Brown

Campbell River near the Roderick Haig-Brown House
Black Tailed Deer,  Crows, Red Tailed Hawk and a Salmon.

This was a wonderful trip to Campbell River. Staying at the Roderick Haig-Brown House which is now a delightful Bed and Breakfast was really special for many different reasons. Thank you to Catherine who made a fabulous Canadian breakfast for us guests at the time; she is the perfect host, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This was an extremely technical piece. The lay of the land is entirely accurate as well as flora and fauna. Roderick was the Magistrate of Vancouver Island, and is best noted for his fourteen books about fishing. Because his many followers know the area by reading his books, every turn, tree and current has to be as accurate as possible. The two crows up front are my favorite part. There is also a salmon, a black tailed deer and a red tailed hawk.

Special thanks to Susan for appreciating this one. It is one of my very favorites.

This painting is now in private collectors possession.
